Tree Planting Ceremony for South Rotary

Deputy Mayor Helene Larocque speaks to the valuable service Rotary provides to the community. She joins today, Honorable Lieutenant Governor Norman Kwong and his wife her Honour Mary Kwong, special guests, Superintendent R.J.B. Boyd (District Commander, Southern Alberta, RCMP), Police Chief Jack Beaton and Fire Chief Morris, Ken Copithorne, District Governor Rotary 5360, Jeanette King President Rotary Partners, Steve Allan President Stampede Park and Most Reverend Frederick Henry Bishop Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary, to plant trees at the selected location of Stampede Park. Members of the Official Party paid tribute to the contribution and dedication of each public servant and Rotarian being remembered forever by the simple act of planting trees. Two trees were planted in memory of two significant public figures who has passed away in the last 12 months: the Honourable Lois E. Hole, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta and Pope John Paul II.
