Alderman Helene Larocque, is pleased to attend and speak as Deputy Mayor during the important celebration in Sikh culture, the Sikh New Year. She speaks about the focus of Sikh culture’s spiritual development of its community and the five virtues; contentment, charity, kindness, positive attitude and humanity work. She also mentions the contributions and accomplishments in their charitable work. religion, the insignia of the Sikh faith. The central doubled-edged sword, used by Guru Gobind Singh to prepare Amrit, is referred to as Khanda. It signifies divine strength, truth, freedom, justice, and the Sikh belief in One God. Over 10, 000 Sikhs and community residents gather to
